How can we help?

1. What is xTune all about, in a nutshell

xTune is the easiest way to access help across organisational boundaries. xTune inspires people to share information and to solve problems more efficiently.

2. Who is xTune meant for and what can it be used for?

Communication and problem solving between experts

Experts spend a great deal of their time solving problems and looking for information. Oftentimes there is an abundance of information accessible, but a person hasn’t got enough time to digest all the information. The best way to solve demanding problems is to turn to a person who is an expert in the field. Using xTune anyone can find the persons who have the skills and interest suitable, and ask them for help. Problem solving becomes faster and people are able to utilize each other’s expertise more flexibly and effectively.

Flexible resourcing and mobilising the know-how

xTune makes it easier to share resources for different projects and services within a company. Using xTune it is easy to find people who have the right skills and interest.

Superiors often have to look for suitable tasks for their staff, for example from new projects that are starting. Using xTune it is easy for the superiors to see what kind of projects are going on at the moment and what projects are looking for more people at that exact moment. Moreover, the superior can easily see what tasks his staff are best suited for.

Experts often want to develop their own expertise and are looking for projects that enable them to do things that interest then and motivate them to develop their own skills. Using xTune each employee can see the projects or other assignments available that are best suited for their expertise and interest.

Small companies

Smaller companies often tend to look for partners from other companies. Using xTune a company can easily and quickly find other companies that can do whatever it is they need help with. It is also very important for small companies to advertise and promote their know-how. Using xTune a company can create a list of things they do and make it easy for other companies to find them.

Large companies

Large companies typically use subcontractors. Using xTune it is easy to find suitable subcontractors just by clicking a button.

3. How can my company start using xTune?

There are two ways to start using xTune:
a) Any xTune user can invite you, and this gives you access to the service for free for one month. Attached in the invitation are instructions that help you get started.
b) If you don’t yet know anyone using xTune, you can register as a user yourself.

Registering is very simple and quick:
1) You will need a company e-mail, which you can use to register with xTune at xtune.fi
2) After registration the first user of the service in the company must pay for the first month of usage. This can be done safely using any major credit card. After this the service is ready to be used, and the first user will become the main user.
3) Rest of the staff can register on to the service simply by logging in using their company e-mail.

4. Why can’t you register using gmail, hotmail or other free e-mail services?

The company’s xTune-environment is designated by the e-mail domain (eg @itunex.fi). For this reason xTune does not accept registrations where a general free e-mail such as gmail or hotmail is submitted. Otherwise there would be a company like gmail.com or hotmail.com in the service.

NB. The main user in the company can, however, invite “outsiders” to his or her company’s environment, and they can use any e-mail they choose.

5. What is xTune Global Hub?

xTune comes with a Global Hub environment (red), which contains company profiles. In these hubs the representatives of these companies may search for experts from other companies and offer their own expertise to other companies. Global Hub is especially useful in interaction between small companies when there’s a need to find expert solutions from outside own company.

Hub is a place for companies to cooperate. The Hub is not meant for private persons. Everyone has to be a part of a company or an organization. The company profile has information about the company’s experts. Each expert is presented with a limited profile consisting of basic information and contact information.

In xTune, each company has its own internal environment (blue), and a valid company e-mail is required for registering into an environment (eg @intunex.fi). Everyone has their personal profile. This internal environment is meant for searching and sharing expertise within a company. This is necessary when a lot of people work for the company.

6. How much is the service and how can you pay?

To start using xTune costs 49€ + VAT for the first month. After that the fee is one credit/month/user starting from 3€/credit (+VAT)

If a company is invited by another company (main user), starting to use xTune is completely free for the first month.

If a main user invites new companies/organisations to xTune, both parties get access to xTune free for one month. The inviting company gets free credits for one months.

xTune credits are bought using PayPal, and at no point in the process will you be asked to hand any billing information to Intunex Inc. Should you wish so, you can create your own Pay Pal user account, but that will not be necessary. You can use Pay Pal to pay by a credit card without registering with Pay Pal.

7. How do I fill my company’s profile?

Fill the profile by going to the xTune Global Hub view (pink), choose My company, click edit, and fill your company’s basic info. Remember to upload your company’s logo.

Add skills to your company either directly in the skill cloud on your company’s profile page. You can also look at what skills others are looking for on Add skills to your company profile page and add skills to your company based on that.

8. How do I edit my profile and my information?

To edit your own profile:
Choose My Profile at the top of the page
Click Edit Profile
Fill in the fields with your chosen information
To end with click Save

9. How do I change my password?

Forgotten password

If you’ve forgotten your password and are unable to log on to xTune go to page http://xtune.fi/hub/ and click link Forgot password? Afterwards submit the e-mail you used at registration.

A confirmation e-mail will be sent to you first, with a link to a page where you can change your password. This way we can ensure that only You will be able to change your password. On the page there is a Reset password button. When you click it a new password will be created for you and sent to you by e-mail. You can log in using this password.

Changing the password after logon

You can change the password by logging on to xTune at http://xtune.fi/hub/ and choosing at the top of the page Settings and at the bottom Password. The new password will be effective immediately.

10. What is the privacy policy like and who will be able to access my information?

The service consists of two sections, and different people will be able to access the info.
1) The company’s own internal section
2) The global section for co-operation between companies

Internal information will be visible to the people within the company. These people will be recognized by their e-mail domain. If your e-mail is, eg, @company.com, all people with the same domain will be able to see your information.

The main user in the company can choose the users who have access to the global section. Access may be granted either to all users, or only to the administrators of the company, or to no one. All users with access to the global section will be visible to global section users from other companies. Global section contains all of its users basic information, as well as information about the company. The skills added by a user will only be visible in the internal section.

11. What are the terms of use of the service?

12. How do I invite others to the service?

User may invite people to his or her company’s internal environment (eg @intunex.fi) using the work with function, by submitting the desired work e-mail (eg. firstname.lastname@itunex.fi). The person being invited has to have a valid company e-mail. Only company e-mails are valid. This way it can be ensured that a regular user cannot send invitations by accident to wrong people or people outside the company . This also makes registering very easy: all you need is an e-mail.

Main user may invite/add people to the company’s internal environment using any e-mail - this allows access to people without a company e-mail. Adding people is done in Administration using Add new user function by giving the person’s e-mail.

Should you want to send an xTune invitation to another person, but not within your own environment, use “Invite new organizations to xTune” function. For further informanion, see: How to invite new companies to xTune

13. How do I invite other companies to xTune service?

You can invite companies or organizations to xTune using the “Invite new organizations to xTune” function. After the invitation has been sent to a new company/organization you will see a status on the Admin Invitations-page saying either “pending” or “accepted”, depending on whether the company has replied to the invitation.

If you invite new companies to xTune both you and the company you invited will be granted one month’s free access to the service. If the inviting company has an open invoice, one month will be added to the invoice, thus pushing back the deadline by a month. If the inviting company doesn’t have an open invoice, the free month will be added to the next invoice.

NB. You can only send invitations to work e-mails, free e-mail service domains cannot be accepted. Only companies and organizations can be xTune clients. As a main user you will also be able to invite private persons into your company’s internal environment, regardless of their e-mail domain. Do this using the “Add new user” function.

14. How do I stop using the service?

Send an e-mail to info(a)intunex.fi, and we will remove your company from the service.

15. Who to turn to in case there are any problems with the service?

The essential xTune manual, questions and answers, can be found on this FAQ page. xTune Support Wiki allows you to add and answer questions, and also edit and add to existing instructions.
